Should I Adopt a Baby?

Whether or not adoption is right for you is a deeply personal decision. What’s right for one family isn’t necessarily right for another.

You’re Likely Eligible to Adopt If…

  • You’re over the age of 18 (except in certain states where the requirement is as old as 25).
  • You have a stable living situation
  • You or your spouse is employed
  • You have a clean criminal record

adoption4Adoption is Likely a Good Fit If…

  • You have a good support system to raise a child
  • You are financial independent enough to afford to adopt and raise a child. See our article on adoption costs here
  • You have room in your heart for a child that comes from a different background than you.
  • You have the time and resources to dedicate to a needy child.
  • You have adequately dealt with any infertility grief and accepted that an adoptive child will be “yours.”
  • Any other children in the home would love and accept the new child.
